Pastor Steve, Senior Pastor
Jake Brewer,
Director Resident Ministry
What’s up youth peeps?!? Or anyone else that is looking to learn about yours truly. As stated above, my name is Jake Brewer- and I’m currently the ministry resident here at FBC Stanley!
I am over our youth group, I oversee our kids ministries (with my wonderful co-worker Katy Lougee), I founded and run our Sports Camp ministries, work with the daycare program across multiple age groups, Run the You’re Killin’ Me Smalls Group (young families!) and help oversee the CCSL (Community Christian Sports Leagues) for softball and basketball.
In addition to all that, I like to sometimes take a breath, and also spend time with my son Luka who was born in 2021; and my wife Amy who I’ve been happily married to since 2018.
I’m originally from the mountains of North Carolina, in Franklin, NC (yes, God’s country). I worked professionally in the front offices of multiple baseball teams including the Savannah Bananas (yes, the viral Tik Tok sensation team you see everywhere) before ultimately knowing I needed to serve Jesus 100% of the time; instead of using my platform in baseball to tell others about Him!
I’m a big time sports fan, and collector (think nerdy baseball cards, but really cool because I have autographs of Babe Ruth & Ty Cobb; along with a rookie card of Michael Jordan- just sayin’.) and love that I’m able to use sports in many ways as a way to connect with people, build relationships- and tell them about the most important one they can ever have- one with Jesus Christ!
I began full-time ministry here on Easter 2021, and look forward to many more. Shoot me a txt or give me a call- looking forward to connecting with you if I haven’t yet!

Justin Whitener,
Interim Worship Leader
Justin, a life long member of FBC Stanley, became the Interim Worship Leader in the fall of 2021.  He’s the blessed husband of Liz Whitener (the drummer in the worship band), and the very proud father of Jack and Amelia, and the dog dad to Brutus and Doug.  His passion for music started at a young age while learning piano and singing in youth choir and then later on, playing guitar.  After completing his bachelor degrees in Psychology and Finance at Campbell University and Florida State, respectively, he returned to his hometown to work in Banking while also serving on various committees across the church, including the honor of being ordained as a Deacon.  When the church began moving towards a more modern music-based service, Justin felt the Lord calling him to play, and over time, the Lord placed the passion to lead worship on his heart.  Each week, he publishes his “Worship Wednesday” series on Facebook.  Please take a few minutes each week and check it out.
