First Baptist extended a call to Rev. Billy Shaw to serve as the permanent Pastor in February 2009. Pastor Billy had previously served as the Interim Pastor from May 4, 2008 to that time.
Billy Shaw accepted Christ as his Savior at age 8. In 1999, he was concertmaster of the Charlotte Symphony Youth Orchestra and had won the Piano Division of the Charlotte Young Artist Competition, when God called him to preach. In 2004, he earned the Bachelor of Science degree in Bible-Pastoral Studies from Tennessee Temple University in Chattanooga, TN. He has had the privilege of completing four institutes at the Stephen Olford Center for Biblical Preaching in Memphis, TN. On a mission trip to Zimbabwe in January 2007, he had the opportunity to preach through a translator and outdoors in center city Harare. Ordained at First Baptist in Charlotte, Billy is scheduled to graduate this December with the Master of Divinity degree from Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary. He is humbled by the opportunity to lead First Baptist Stanley into God's plan for her future. His life verse is Philippians 3:10, "That I may know Him and the power of His resurrection, and the fellowship of His sufferings, being made conformable to His death." His main hobby is songwriting. | Mrs. Jane Bumgarner brings energy and musical expertise to the music ministry of First Baptist Stanley. "Mrs. B" is also the full time chorus teacher at Stanley Middle School, where she mentors hundreds of students in the principles of music. Jane came to us as Interim Minister of Music in September '08, and in a short time under her leadership, the adult choir has tripled in size. Having grown up in this church, she enjoys using her musical gifts for the Lord Jesus Christ. She and her husband Dale reside in Stanley. |

Mike is a native of Stanley, NC and has attended First Baptist for over 27 years. He joined our staff June 10, 2001 as Director of Family Activities. He has a degree in Television and Visual Graphics and owns his own photographic business - PHOTO-PROS. He has extensive knowledge of drama and theatre production including performance, stage design, lighting, and casting. An avid sportsman, he competes in numerous team sports in addition to his love for fishing, golf, and bocce. He and his wife Vicki have two children Holland and Micah.
Mike does an outstanding job of planning a full calendar of activities for the whole family. God has gifted Mike with a wide array of gifts and abilities, and Mike uses each of these in a magnificent way for the glory of God. We appreciate all Mike does to foster the fellowship life of First Baptist Church. Alesia "Lisa" Austin joined our staff on August 21, 1987. She directs our Weekday Early Education program. She has one son, Jonathan Manus. She lives in Mt. Holly and graduated recently from Gaston College earning her Associates Degree in Early Childhood Education.
